He is slightly modified from Andrew Apatosaurus, as named in this pattern book.
Quick review of the pattern book, Plastic Canvas Dinosaur Snack Bag Clips:
I really like the idea of so many different types of dinos. You don't usually find that (even online). I have no intentions of making any of these to be snack bag clips. Much rather have them as magnets or gift wrap decoration, etc.
What I don't care about the patterns is that they're a little hard to decipher where one color ends and another begins. Not fond of the puppy dog faces, though that's my personal design preference. And I think there is an overuse in back stitching. Again, a personal preference.
I know I messed up in a couple spots with the color changes, but you'd never be able to tell without studying the original pattern. I DO recommend starting with accent colors first and then just fill in with the main color. That's what I switched to a quarter of the way in and it was a lot easier.
Overall, I like the book. It has a LOT of potential with some modifications.
Apparently, we're not the only ones!
My son and I were in the dreaded Wally World earlier and saw this cake.
I only have one more dinosaur project in the very near future. That will be a modified plush version of a pattern from THIS book.
Until then, see you at the movies!
